Antonio Gens obtained his Civil Engineering degree in 1972 at the Technical University of Madrid and a M.Sc. degree in Soil Mechanics at Imperial College; London; in 1973. After some time working in industry; he returned to Imperial College where he was awarded a Ph.D. in 1982.
